The father of her adoptive family is white American who has military experience, as is her adoptive mother, who is Filipino. She has claimed that she and her adopted brother that she was with were subject to abuse by the adoptive parents since her childhood until she joined the military. Her family travelled from San Francisco for a few months, where they lived with their aunt before moving to Texas when she was thirteen due to her father's need to have a bypass procedure. Her mother claims that the physical attack was less severe, however she was still dealing with the psychological abuse her father suffered in her home. When she was aged 18, she enlisted in the United States Navy. Poarch began her TikTok page in April, 2020. Within less than eight months, she'd accumulated more than 40 million users.
