Dennis Alan Taylor is a retired banker and Jennifer Marina Joy is a psychologist. The father of her is Argentine who is of Scottish and English descendance. Her mother comes from Spanish and English roots. Four of her siblings belong to her father's ex-married partners. The family was in Buenos Aires until she was six, after which they moved to the Victoria area of London. According to Taylor-Joy, the removal was extremely difficult for her and she refused to learn English to the hope of returning to Argentina. Hill House had to be her new school following the changed schools from Northlands. Later, she enrolled in Queen's Gate School where she was a ballet student and performed in school productions. When she was 16 she quit school in order to take on a full-time job in acting. Taylor-Joy always had a dream to work as an actor. When she was 16, Sarah Doukas Founder of Storm Management gave her the chance to be a model.
